Feeding America
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing group of students, MS Parent Group and staff (and spouses) who volunteered at the Feeding America Truck event. Your hard work and kindness made such a difference! We had a wonderful turnout and were able to provide food boxes to nearly 100 families in our community. đź’™ What an incredible way to come together and support those around us. The Feeding America truck visits Alpine Elementary each month, and we are so grateful for everyone who helps make this possible.

OLDER INFORMATION

Parent Drop-off & Parking Procedure
Do not park in the center of the lot, as students are crossing in front of traffic, creating an unsafe situation. Thank you for helping keep our students safe! Please follow the flow of traffic by filling in the two lines around the loop marked by the purple line in the picture, merging into a single line at the end to exit the loop. If you are a "drop and go," please use the inside lane. If you are waiting for the doors to open (at 7:20), please use the outside lane. Students will be entering the building through Door #28, which is also marked in purple.

Please do not use the front lot by the main office for student drop-off or pick-up at the beginning or end of the school day. This lot is reserved for families who need to come into the office. Thank you for helping us keep traffic flowing safely and smoothly for everyone!

Reporting Absences, Late Arrivals, and Early Dismissals
If your student will be late or absent, please notify the school as soon as possible. You can call the main office at 616-785-3225 and press option [insert number], or email us at attendance@khps.org. If your student needs to leave early for an appointment, please contact the office by phone or email in advance. To minimize disruptions to classroom instruction, we will call students down during passing time whenever possible. Thank you for helping us keep the school day running smoothly!

School Safety Update
As part of our ongoing commitment to creating safe learning environments, we will be implementing the Raptor Visitor Management System beginning this school year. This system replaces our paper sign-in process and will allow us to more effectively track visitors, volunteers, and other guests on campus. The check-in process involves scanning a government-issued ID, which provides real-time screening against public sex offender databases and ensures accurate visitor records. Approved visitors will receive a printed sticker with their photo, name, and date. Please note that all volunteers will also need to have a background check completed by the district. Please visit the front office with your photo ID to begin this annual process.

2025-2026 Cell Phone Update
At Kenowa Hills Middle School, students are expected to keep their cell phones in their lockers all day every day from (7:40am - 2:37pm) -no exceptions. This policy isn’t just a rule; it’s based on research, shared values, and our commitment to helping students stay focused and succeed. When schools and families work together, great things happen for kids! We encourage you to talk with your child at home about the why behind this policy. It’s not about punishment—it’s about protecting their time, attention, and potential. Thanks so much for your continued support as we work to create a safe, focused, and empowering environment for all our students!

Athletics
To be cleared for tryouts or practice on the first day, all athletes must have a current sports physical dated after April 15, 2025 uploaded to FinalForms. Participation fees can also be paid online through FinalForms prior to the start of each sports season. If you haven’t registered yet, please visit FinalForms to create your account, add your student(s), and complete all required forms. This must be done before the start of your student’s sport season to ensure they’re eligible to participate. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly—we’re looking forward to a great season!

LEARNING

Our Personal Mastery educational experience has redefined education and has gained attention around the state and nation. Personal Mastery provides your child with personalized attention from teachers. Instead of teaching to a broad group of students without an understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses, Personal Mastery allows teachers to interact with students individually or in small groups to help them better address their weaknesses. In this way, we strive to help your child reach their full potential.
