Parent Drop-off & Parking Procedure
Do not park in the center of the lot, as students are crossing in front of traffic, creating an unsafe situation. Thank you for helping keep our students safe! Please follow the flow of traffic by filling in the two lines around the loop marked by the purple line in the picture, merging into a single line at the end to exit the loop. If you are a "drop and go," please use the inside lane. If you are waiting for the doors to open (at 7:20), please use the outside lane. Students will be entering the building through Door #28, which is also marked in purple.
Reporting Absences, Late Arrivals, and Early Dismissals
If your student will be late or absent, please notify the school as soon as possible. You can call the main office at 616-785-3225 and press option [insert number], or email us at attendance@khps.org. If your student needs to leave early for an appointment, please contact the office by phone or email in advance. To minimize disruptions to classroom instruction, we will call students down during passing time whenever possible. Thank you for helping us keep the school day running smoothly!
School Safety Update
As part of our ongoing commitment to creating safe learning environments, we will be implementing the Raptor Visitor Management System beginning this school year. This system replaces our paper sign-in process and will allow us to more effectively track visitors, volunteers, and other guests on campus. The check-in process involves scanning a government-issued ID, which provides real-time screening against public sex offender databases and ensures accurate visitor records. Approved visitors will receive a printed sticker with their photo, name, and date. Please note that all volunteers will also need to have a background check completed by the district. Please visit the front office with your photo ID to begin this annual process.
Nurse News
My name is Trent VanWagoner and I am the Registered Nurse at Kenowa Hills Middle School and High School. For those of you that do not know me, I have been the school nurse at the high school for the past three years, and I am excited to be back for another great school year while covering the middle school as well. My office hours will be 7:30-3:00. With the first day of school rapidly approaching, I wanted to remind you that all medications kept at the school, prescription and non-prescription, will need a medication consent form filled out and signed by both a guardian and a physician. This needs to be completed before administration of any medications at school. If your child has allergies, asthma, diabetes, or seizures, an Emergency Action Plan is also required. You can receive these forms from your child's physician. Please note, these also require a physician signature. If your child has other chronic conditions that could require care at school or that I should be aware of, please let me know. On August 20th, I will be in my office during the open house. Please feel free to stop in and say hello, ask questions, discuss medical conditions, or drop off medications that will be kept at school this year. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. For forms and more information, please visit the Nurse page of the website.
Sincerely,
Trent VanWagoner,
Kenowa Hills Middle/High School RN

Cell Phone Update
At Kenowa Hills Middle School, students are expected to keep their cell phones in their lockers all day every day from (7:40am - 2:37pm) -no exceptions. This policy isn’t just a rule; it’s based on research, shared values, and our commitment to helping students stay focused and succeed. When schools and families work together, great things happen for kids! We encourage you to talk with your child at home about the why behind this policy. It’s not about punishment—it’s about protecting their time, attention, and potential. Thanks so much for your continued support as we work to create a safe, focused, and empowering environment for all our students!
Athletics
To be cleared for tryouts or practice on the first day, all athletes must have a current sports
physical dated after April 15, 2025 uploaded to FinalForms. Participation fees can also be paid online
through FinalForms prior to the start of each sports season. If you haven’t registered yet, please visit
FinalForms to create your account, add your student(s), and complete all required forms. This must be done before the start of your student’s sport season to ensure they’re eligible to participate. Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly—we’re looking forward to a great season!

TRANSPORTATION BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CAREOur Personal Mastery educational experience has redefined education and has gained attention around the state and nation. Personal Mastery provides your child with personalized attention from teachers. Instead of teaching to a broad group of students without an understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses, Personal Mastery allows teachers to interact with students individually or in small groups to help them better address their weaknesses. In this way, we strive to help your child reach their full potential.
