Dear KHMS Families,
Even with a shortened week, our students and staff continued to make the most of every day. It’s always impressive to see the focus, effort, and positivity that fill our building — no matter how many days are on the calendar.
Recently, we had the opportunity to celebrate our Honor Roll Field Trip, and we want to extend a sincere thank you to Mrs. Haines, Mrs. Plants, Mrs. Rosendall, and all of our teacher chaperones who helped make this experience possible. While we have many students consistently making great choices and putting in strong effort, it was especially meaningful to recognize those who achieved honor roll status. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and look forward to continuing to celebrate their success together.
As we look ahead, Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. Conferences will take place on March 5th and 10th from 4:00–7:30 PM, and on March 13th from 12:30–2:30 PM. More information on how to sign up for conference times will be shared in next week’s newsletter. These conferences are a great opportunity to connect directly with your child’s teachers, ask questions, and partner together to support student growth. As always, please remember that you can monitor grades and attendance at any time through PowerSchool.
We also want to take a moment to recognize the improvements we’ve seen in our parking lot procedures this week. Arrival and dismissal have been running much more smoothly, and that is a direct result of your cooperation and attention to our expectations. Thank you for doing your part to help keep our students safe and our processes efficient. Your efforts truly make a difference, and we appreciate everyone continuing to follow those procedures each day.
Thank you for being an essential part of our KHMS community. The care, communication, and partnership we share with our families are what allow our students to thrive.
As always—Go Knights!

Dear KHMS Families,
One of the best parts of this time of year is getting to celebrate our students’ hard work, and we are especially excited about our upcoming Honor Roll Field Trips. These trips are a chance to recognize the dedication and effort so many of our students have shown. We are proud of them and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments together.
Thank you as well for making sure your students were here for Count Day. Your partnership truly matters, and we appreciate the extra effort it takes to ensure strong attendance on important days like that. It makes a meaningful difference for our school.
We’ve also noticed that the parking lot has been running much more smoothly this week. Thank you for following our procedures and helping keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for everyone. Your cooperation does not go unnoticed, and we encourage everyone to keep up the great work.
As a reminder, there will be no school on 2/13, 2/16, and 2/17. We hope you enjoy the extended weekend and some extra time together as a family.
Finally, a quick reminder about iReady minutes at home. Consistent practice helps build both skills and confidence. Encouraging your student to stay on track with their minutes—even a little at a time—can make a big difference in their growth.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are grateful to work alongside such a strong and supportive school community.
As always—Go Knights!

Dear Kenowa Hills Middle School Families,
We are off to a busy and positive start to the semester, and it has been great to see students engaged in learning and settling back into routines. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
I want to begin with an important reminder regarding arrival and dismissal procedures. For the safety of all students, families must use the designated parent drop-off and pick-up areas and should not park in the front office lot. Parking in this area creates traffic backups and safety concerns for students and staff. Thank you to the many families who are already following these expectations and helping keep our campus safe. We will be monitoring arrival and dismissal closely and will have staff out supporting these procedures as much as possible. Please review the parking lot diagram included in this newsletter.
This week also includes Count Day on Tuesday, February 11, making student attendance especially important. We appreciate your help in ensuring students are present and on time.
We are also excited to celebrate our students’ hard work with upcoming Honor Roll field trips. Permission slips were sent home with students who qualified this past Thursday. Please be sure to review and return them so students can participate.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the STEM Open House and Inside the Castle hosted by Superintendent Hopkins. These events were a wonderful way to highlight student learning and connect as a school community.
Lastly, a quick reminder that students may work on i-Ready at home to complete their weekly 30 minutes in both Math and Reading. This is a great opportunity for students to build confidence, strengthen skills, and stay on track, and we appreciate families’ support in encouraging this learning at home.
Thank you for your continued support as we start the semester strong. We look forward to a great week ahead.
