KHMS News December 5

12/05/25

Dear Kenowa Hills Middle School Families,

I hope you all had a restful Thanksgiving Break. As we return, we have a full couple of weeks ahead before the next holiday break, and we’re excited to build some fun and connection through our upcoming spirit days.

Parking & Crosswalk Safety
Please use the South Lot for drop-off and pick-up, as increased traffic in the front lot has caused congestion. If you are using the quick drop-off lane, be sure students are ready to exit immediately. Ongoing construction has required adjustments to our crosswalk locations, and with darker mornings and winter weather approaching, it is essential that students use the designated crosswalks and follow staff directions. Please drive slowly, stay alert, and avoid distractions while on campus.

Quick Reminders
• Charge Chromebooks daily
• On-time, daily attendance matters
• Cell phones remain in lockers
• 30 minutes/week of i-Ready Math and 30 minutes/week of i-Ready Reading

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in making Kenowa Hills Middle School a great place for our students.

November 21, 2025
Dear Kenowa Hills Middle School Families,

As we begin Thanksgiving Break, we want to express our sincere gratitude for our students, staff, and families. This has been a busy and meaningful fall at KHMS, and we are thankful for the partnership and positivity you bring to our school community. We hope this break provides time for rest, connection, and celebration with those you care about most.

🚗 Parking Lot & Crosswalk Safety

The progress of the construction across the street has been exciting to see, but it has also required us to adjust some of our crosswalk locations over the past week. With these changes—and with darker mornings and winter weather on the way—it’s more important than ever that students use the designated crosswalks and follow staff directions during arrival and dismissal. Families driving on campus can help by slowing down, staying alert, and avoiding distractions. Thank you for partnering with us to keep all Knights safe.

💻 Quick Reminders

Encourage students to fully charge their Chromebooks before returning to school.

Daily attendance makes a difference—thank you for continuing to help your student arrive on time and ready to learn.

Cell phones must remain in lockers during the school day. If a student needs to contact home, the office is always available to help.

We’re looking for at least 30 minutes a week of iReady Math and 30 Minutes of iReady Reading each week. Students can work on iReady at home too!

We are incredibly grateful for this community and wish all of our families a restful, safe, and joyful Thanksgiving Break. Thank you for all you do to make KHMS an exceptional place for students.

As always—Go Knights!
Mr. Dodge
Principal, Kenowa Hills Middle School

Dear Kenowa Hills Middle School Families,

As we head into our final week before Thanksgiving Break, there’s a lot of great learning and momentum happening here at KHMS. We’re excited to finish this stretch strong and appreciate all you do to support your students during this busy time of year!

🐾 K-9 Safety Checks

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, KHMS will be conducting periodic, unannounced K-9 searches in hallways, lockers, and classrooms. These searches are a proactive measure to help maintain a safe school environment.
If a K-9 alerts to an area, staff may complete a brief follow-up search. This process is always handled respectfully. If you have any questions, please reach out to me or Assistant Principal Mr. Haik.

🏫 Parent Group Updates

Thank you to our Parent Group for a great week of events, including the Culver’s Fundraiser and Griffins Night!

Next Meeting: Tuesday, November 18 (a link to join virtually will be sent via email)

Donut Sale: Friday, November 21, before school (students only)

We appreciate all the ways the Parent Group supports our students and school community.

💻 Quick Reminders

Please ensure students bring their charged Chromebooks each day.

The Tech Window is open during Connect each morning for device concerns.

Daily attendance matters—thank you for helping your student arrive on time and ready to learn!

Cell phones must remain in lockers during the school day. If a student needs to contact home, they may stop by the office and we will help them.

Thank you for your continued support. We’re looking forward to a great week ahead before the holiday break. As always—Go Knights!

Sincerely,
Michael Dodge
