What is K-Knights?
K-Knights (also known as Young 5s) is a tuition-free program designed to teach skills that students need to start kindergarten and is open (but not limited) to children whose 5th birthday falls between June and September 1st. It may also be a good fit for those children who have no preschool experience. Your child will experience a fun, creative, encouraging, child-centered environment while learning to work both independently and collaboratively. Kindergarten skills and behavior are emphasized while students are given the support they need to find success at their level of learning and development. To see if this program would be a good fit for your child, please attend one of the events above at your home school.
My child is new to Kenowa Hills. What do I do first?
Schools of Choice
If you reside outside of the Kenowa Hills boundaries, you are welcome to attend orientation at one of our elementary schools. This does not guarantee your child a Schools of Choice spot in kindergarten. The Schools of Choice window will open April 10 and close on May 12. More details about Schools of Choice can be found here.
Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2018 to enroll in kindergarten or K-Knights. The K-Knights program is for students who are not quite ready for kindergarten but meet the age requirement. K-Knights attend all-day everyday Monday through Friday.
