Central Elementary’s NEW Snack and Birthday Policy

Central Elementary has a responsibility to help students establish and maintain lifelong, healthy eating habits. We also live in a society where allergies are more of a safety concern than ever. We can help promote a safe, positive learning environment by providing healthy celebrations that shift the focus from the food to the child.  For these reasons, Central has chosen to move away from edible treats in the classroom. We believe this will help to encourage healthy, safe eating and celebrating.

We are excited about all the new ways we will find together to celebrate birthdays and holidays. We know this adjustment will require a mental shift for some of us, so we have compiled a list of inexpensive ideas to get your brain going! Feel free to use an item from this list or let your creativity and imagination run wild!

Central's Pick-up, Drop-off Procedures

Our morning supervision of students begins at 8:10 AM. There is NO adult supervision available prior to that time. Students should not be dropped off before 8:10AM. All students will be dropped off at the playground entrance at the East end of the building. Students who eat breakfast at school will continue into the building from the playground. Students that do not eat breakfast at school will remain on the playground until the bell to line up has gone off.

When dropping students off, you must go to the West parking lot. No one can park in the circle drive due to bus traffic. Parents who want to enter the building or walk their child to the playground should park in the far West parking lot.

ENTERING THE BUILDING DURING THE SCHOOL DAY (8:25AM-3:35PM):

Outside doors will be locked from 8:25AM-3:35 PM. Between the hours of 8:25 AM and 3:35 PM, visitors are always welcome. However, in order to gain entrance, you must press the intercom button on your right by the main entrance doors. Once you have been greeted by our office staff, please state your name and look at the camera located in the upper left of the entrance. Once your identity has been confirmed, our office staff will unlock the door and you may proceed to the office for a visitors pass and to sign in.

AFTERNOON PICK-UP PROCEDURES:

Our school day ends at 3:35PM. Parents and/or guardians who pick students up after school will not need to enter the building or sign their child out. They will meet their student(s) at the West Parking Lot. Students will be brought there by their respective teachers. All students will be accompanied to the bus or West parking lot by their teacher. Students should be picked up by 3:35 as supervision officially ends at that time. Students that are not picked up that time will need to wait in the lobby by the office.
