Kenowa Hills Public Schools is pleased to welcome Brent Morrisson as the new band director at Kenowa Hills High School. Morrisson brings a wealth of experience and accolades to the Knights at Kenowa Hills, including 17 years of experience at Otsego Public Schools.
Morrisson received his masters of music in conducting from the American Band College of Southern Oregon University and a bachelor’s of music education from Western Michigan University. He has performed with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Michigan State University Orchestra, as well as Western Michigan University’s Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensemble. Morrisson is an active member of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA), and was previously the vice president for High School Solo and Ensemble for MSBOA District 10.
Under Mr. Morrisson’s Direction, the Otsego Symphonic Band achieved 16 years of straight 1st division ratings in MSBOA District and State Band and Orchestra Festivals. The Marching Band had 9 straight undefeated seasons in Scholastic Marching Competition, 17 straight 1st Division ratings at MSBOA Marching Band Festivals, 12 Grand Championships, a 3rd place at the Michigan Competing Band Association (MCBA) State Band Finals in 1999, and has won a total of 131 Caption awards in best music, marching, percussion, colorguard and best field commanders.
