Mr. Bernard previously served as a teacher at Kenowa Hills High School for 11 years, teaching English in grades 9th through 12th. Outside of the classroom he was the assistant varsity hockey coach at Kenowa Hills for five years, and yearbook advisor for the past seven years.
Anticipating the Move to Central Elementary
"I am thrilled to join the team at Kenowa Hills Central Elementary. My mom was an elementary teacher for 36 years at Kentwood Public Schools. My early summer days were spent in her classroom taking down bulletin boards, cleaning cabinets, and running around the gym when she was socializing. Transitioning to Central brings back many fond memories from my childhood."
The Bernard Family
"My wife, Melissa, is a guidance counselor at East Kentwood Freshman Campus. Together we have two beautiful children, Avery (7) and Camden (5)."
Dedicated to Learning and Growth
"I'd like to think that I am a lifelong learner. Each student offers me an opportunity to learn and grow. Joining the amazing staff at Central Elementary offers me a new challenge and a new opportunity to learn and grow. This is what excites me the most."
