The Kenowa Hills High School Athletic Department, in conjunction with Home Team Grill and Sobie Meats, are proud to highlight outstanding student athletes as part of our Athlete of the Month program. This program awards one male and one female student athlete from their respective team. These student athletes are nominated by coaches and voted for by a panel of administrators, teachers, and peers. The recipients of this award must also be standouts in the classroom and in the community.
Athletes of the Month
Yanely Lopez was the most valuable runner on the girls cross country team this past fall, as only a sophomore! Yanely also earned all conference honors this past fall. She ran her personal best, at the Allendale Invitational, running a 20:29 which was a 30 second improvement from her previous time. She is a positive leader on her team and a leader in classroom as well. Yanely has also volunteered at numerous running events, including the Brave and Bold 5k.
Dylan Mackey is a 3 sport athlete at Kenowa Hills. He is a great student and a leader in the building. Dylan was an all conference selection in football this past season. He led the football team in rushing yards, receiving yards, and touchdowns scored this past season. Dylan was voted, by his team, to serve as a captain on this years squad. He finished the season with his best game, intercepting two passes and scoring the game winning touchdown with 30 seconds left in the game.
Congratulations to both athletes. GO KNIGHTS!
