Welcome to Spring! It is great to see the sun shining and the snow melting. In saying that, I do know Michigan enough to realize another snowstorm just might blow in, but I’m going to stay positive! We have had a lot going on at Zinser. February saw a few snow days, a Valentine’s Multi-Age Day with fun activities including Jump Rope for Heart and a visit from the Conquerors, as well as our final Roller Skating Party. Teachers have been working hard at obtaining a guaranteed and viable curriculum that we can deliver to each student, viewing MAP scores and trying to continually improve our instruction, and our district continues to explore a performance and standards driven system of education (hopefully you’ve been able to visit a parent forum). With March and spring brings March Madness, my favorite time of the year. This year we held a “March MATHness” event to encourage more time and energy for math support at home. Simply put, we can’t do this alone and we need home support in math, as well as reading. The March MATHness event was a big success and we appreciate all of you who were able to make it, we received some great feedback! A few Watch D.O.G.S. were at the family math night to help and encourage dads or significant males to volunteer at Zinser. We continue to welcome all significant males in our student’s lives to sign up as a Watch D.O.G. to help our school. Contact Mr. Willick for more details. We appreciate all of you who help make Zinser a great place to help reach the potential of each and every child. Go Knights! Your partner in education, Mr. Ross Willick |
