Third graders at Alpine Elementary went on a study trip to Hoffmaster State Park as a kickoff to our Michigan studies! Inside they explored a variety of exhibits to learn more about Michigan plants, animals, geography, and the Great Lakes. Outside they climbed to the top of the Lake Michigan overlook. The view was beautiful! Students also used magnets to observe what sand is made of, climbed a tall dune, and walked the Lake Michigan shoreline. They now truly understand how the dunes are a Michigan treasure and need to be protected. Pictured are students in Mrs. Hartley's class - everyone made it to the top of the dune climb! It was a day full of fun and learning for all! |
