Our Transportation Department oversees the safe and reliable transportation for eligible district students K-12. Routes and bus stops are determined by the department based on safety factors, traffic issues, bus maneuverability, meeting state standards for a legal stop and centrally locating stops in highly populated areas. Please understand that we are unable to provide personalized service for the 2900 students that we transport daily and students could be asked to walk a reasonable distance to a designated stop. There is no law stating the maximum distance a student may walk to the bus stop or the maximum bus ride time; however, we make every attempt to set reasonable walk distances and ride times. Once a route has been established and all the adjustments have been worked out, drivers will make every effect to maintain a reliable schedule.Traffic and weather do play a major part in staying on schedule.
Kenowa Hills has a two-tier bus routing system. The first tier is our secondary routes, consisting of the transportation of all eligible 6-12 graders to and from school. The second tier is our elementary routes, consisting of the transportation of all eligible K-5 graders to and from their individual elementary buildings only within their specific attendance area.
School of Choice students are eligible for transportation under the following conditions:they must ride to and from the nearest established in-district bus stop and the bus must have room for additional student(s).Should the bus become overcrowded, school of choice students will be asked to change to another bus and bus stop location.
