To honor our senior athletes for their teamwork, work ethic, commitment, leadership, and dependability, the Kenowa Hills Athletic Boosters, in collaboration with Outback Steakhouse, has been hosting a recognition dinner for these young adults since 1999.  Outback Steakhouse has graciously catered the banquet and volunteered their staff for this Spring affair.  We also want to give a special thanks to Hartley Byers for taking on the organization role for this event.  A few of the guest speakers who have been part of this banquet in prior years were:

Chuck Martin (Defensive backs coach, University of Notre Dame; former GVSU Head Football Coach)

Lloyd Carr (former University of Michigan Head Football Coach)

Brian Kelly (Univ. of Notre Dame Head Football Coach; former GVSU Head Football Coach)

Margo Jonker (CMU Women's Varsity Softball Coach; Asst. Coach Women's Olympic Softball 2000)

Steve Hawkins (WMU Men's Basketall Coach)

Linda Nash (Aquinas College Girls Basketball Coach)

In addition, senior student athletes can apply for the Outback Steakhouse Scholarship by submitting an essay.  Winners are determined by a booster selection panel and are announced at the Spring Sports Banquet.  Student/athletes should contact the athletic office or Erik Haik for more information about this scholarship program.

2012 Outback winners were:  Dan Hankins, Josh DeWys, Devan Dunneback, Alyssa Kamyszek, Sara Robinson, Taylor Wiercinski, Kelsey Garvin, Sam Waalkes, Matt Hager and Ryan Seely.  Each of these students were recipients of a $250 scholarship.

Athletes of the Year:  Elizabeth Carpenter and Russ Werra. These student athletes each received a $500 scholarship award.
