With the support of the Kenowa Hills community, the Buffalo Wild Wings Benefit for Megan Heeringa was a huge success! THANK YOU to everyone who supported this event! A check from BBWs will be presented to the Heeringa family to help with medical related expenses. Together, we were able to raise just over $500.00 for the Heeringa family. Your support is appreciated!

On Monday, May 20th, 2013, school will not be in session for your kindergarten student. The teaching staff will be holding Kindergarten Orientation on May 20th for our incoming kindergarten students and their parents.

Second graders at Central Elementary anxiously await for mail delivery each day as they anticipate receiving postcards from friends, family, and acquaintances throughout the world. Everyone has really embraced the project and we’re so grateful for the enthusiastic participation. The postcard project was designed to help students make connections about landforms they learned about in science as well as to reinforce map skills. Students track each postcard in their journal of maps which lends itself to great geography discussions. We have received postcards from all continents with the exception of Antarctica. Postcards have been sent from throughout the United States as well.

Drill work, competitions, and games along with pizza and drink.

Cost: $15.00 (including pizza and drink)
Ages: 1st-8th grade boys
Date: Saturday, May 4, 2013

Students at Central Elementary enjoyed spending the day with lions, tigers, bears, and other stuffed friends. Students brought in $1 and their stuffed animals. The money raised went to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to find a cure for this disease. $584 was raised through this event. Way to go Central!!

As we approach the end of this school year we are asking for your help. We are asking you to check on the balance in your student’s food service account. We are trying to bring all of the student’s account balances to a positive amount to close out the school year and we need your help to accomplish this.

You can do this through the efund website or call any of the school’s food service departments. To access the efund website go to the KHPS website (khps.org) and click on Food Service/Menus on the site menu on the left side of the screen. There you will find a link to efunds. All you need to access your student’s account is their ID#.

It is our pleasure to supply your children with delicious, healthy meals daily.

Thank you for your cooperation.

March 21, 22, and 23 at 7:30pm
In the Kenowa Hills Performing Arts Center

Based on Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the men and women the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the parking lot attendant, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, the trucker, the fireman, the housewife, just to name a few. It’s a highly original look at the American landscape that’s simply impossible to forget.
