The LEAGUE is a school-based organization for service learning that builds character and inspires young people to “do good” in their community, nation and world. The LEAGUE provides Alpine Elementary with a base of service learning ideas and a business partnership with Crowe-Chisek. Alpine Elementary is very grateful to have this partnership with Crowe-Chisek as they have provided volunteers to assist students and teachers with the various service learning activities in which Alpine Elementary participates. In addition, they have also contributed to some of the collections that Alpine has done in order to make a greater impact. |

Alpine Elementary uses Life Skills as their guiding character education element in school. Every teacher and paraprofessional uses the Life Skills to focus positive student behavior. Staff and students understand the sixteen Life Skills from the beginning of the year. They are: Effort, Responsibility, Cooperation, Caring, Curiosity, Patience, Perseverance, Organization, Initiative, Pride, Problem Solving, Courage, Resourcefulness, Common Sense, Flexibility and Sense of Humor. In addition to the Life Skills, Alpine also uses Lifelong Guidelines. The lifelong Guidelines are: No-put downs, Trustworthiness, Truthfulness, Active Listening and Personal Best. |

Alpine Elementary has Kid’s Hope mentors that provide positive role models for students who could use extra support. These mentors visit Alpine on a regular basis to develop positive relationships with these chosen students. The mentors follow students up through the grade levels until they leave Alpine. These mentors are invaluable resources to support the emotional needs of all students. |

Annually, Alpine Elementary celebrates the wonderful writing that takes place by having a Young Author’s Day. On this day, the students watch the Brainstormers Skywriter’s show. This show performs chosen stories written by Alpine Elementary students. Following the show, students break up into small groups to share the marvelous stories that they have written. The unique part of this day is that teachers, paraprofessionals and various Kenowa Hills community members lead the groups in their story sharing. This is a great opportunity for staff to get to know students better and for the community to become involved in our school. |

Alpine Elementary has a school store that is run by our fourth grade classrooms. Students are responsible for collecting money, returning change, stocking shelves and assisting in ordering supplies. Fourth grade students also have to set up the counter and put everything away each day. At the school store, students are able to purchase valuable school supplies such as pencils, erasers, and healthy snacks. This is a great opportunity for students to learn and have a real world experience. |
