Good-Bye Mr. Papke!

Mr. Gary Papke, former principal of Marne Elementary is retiring after 35 years in education. Gary served Kenowa Hills as principal of both Marne and Fairview elementary schools from 1990-2008. Gary left Fairview in 2008, but stayed on for one final year as an administrator of Marne Elementary until the end of this school year. Mr. Papke has dedicated his life to the teaching and learning of children. "Possibly the most wonderful aspect of this experience is that I can very honestly say that if I had it to do all over again, I would choose the same career path and experiences again" said Mr. Papke.

Thank you Gary for all your dedication and enthusiasm - we will miss you!

“So Long” and “Farewell”! It has been an incredible, intrinsically rewarding 35 year career journey in K-12 education! Thank you all for your support in both good times and in challenging times! Possibly the most wonderful aspect of this experience is that I can very honestly say that if I had it to do all over again, I would choose the same career path and experiences again! Thanks to the many supportive and respectful students and parents over the years. My job, because of you, has for the most part been joy filled and fun! Please rest assured that Kenowa Hills Public Schools and Marne Elementary in particular will continue to strive to provide “high levels of learning for each and every student”.

MA-K Scientist

Walker Station and Marne Elementary kindergarten students become scientific investigators at the “Official Testing Site for Gravity and Forces of Motion,” March 30-31 at Marne. Kindergartners, led by master teachers LInda Fitzpatrick and Mary Anne Ryan, used the scientific method to predict the outcome of the forces of gravity and push/pull power as they explored centers entitled: “Right Weigh Airport,” “Pull-Push Power,” “Go Go Gravity,” “Force Flips,” “Domino Force,” and “Gravity Away.”

Marne Elementary recently held its 9th annual Festival of Talents. A total of 27 students representing all grades participated in this unique event. Just over 100 guests were treated to a variety of experiments, science and craft projects, clever writings, and special works of art. Creative efforts were evident as were the LIFESKILLS of organization and pride.

Many thanks to all those who participated as well as to those who attended this special event. Your continued support for this event is greatly appreciated.
MA-Flounder

Flounder from Thunder 94.5 recently visited Mrs. Justema's 4th Grade classroom to record students saying the "Pledge of Allegiance". Marne's fourth grade recording will air on Thursday, February 26 at 7:30 a.m. If you miss the live announcement, you may visit Thunder's website at www.thunder945.com on or after February 26.

Marne-Election

Students at Marne Elementary experienced democracy in action on Tuesday, November 4 as they participated in an all-school presidential election. Mrs. Justema's 4th grade class, having just finished a unit on the principles of American Democracy, conducted the election complete with a voter registration table and "I Voted" stickers for students to wear after casting their ballot. It was an excellent learning experience for students at all grade levels!
