1st hour classes at the Middle School had a donation challenge to raise money for the Kent County Humane Society. The class with the largest donation amount won the opportunity to hear their teacher sing a song over the intercom to the entire school. Take a look!

On May 15, the Third Michigan Volunteer Infantry Company F visited the Middle School. Students witnessed a rifle firing, observed different living quarters, tried on clothes, and learned the daily tasks of soldiers and civilians living in the 1800’s. The Board of Education approved this one time use of guns on school property in order to bring a greater learning opportunity to students. The infantry performed throughout the school day and is hopeful to return again next year. For more information on the Third Michigan Volunteer Infantry visit www.thirdmichigan.org.

Middle School Language Arts Teacher, Mr. Krueger, got a hair cut and shave on stage as a result of a reading challenge for his students.

The students sung this song:
Our Teacher Mr. Krueger made us a bet, to reach a goal he didn't think we would get!
Reading 50,000 pages is quite a large sum, and he challenged all of us to get the job done!
So it's time to say "Good Bye" to that full head of hair!
We surpassed your challenge and met your dare.

Mr. Krueger was a great sport with a saying of his own:
One Challenge - Three Classes - 80 Students - At Least Two Books Read By Each.
321 Books Read - 66,658 Total Pages Read.
Getting My Students Hooked On Reading PRICELESS!
